What It Means To Be A Nonprofit Co-op
All income in excess of the cost of providing electric service is treated as member savings. These "savings" are known as capital credits and belong to United Electric's member/owners in proportion to their electric usage.
Capital Credits may be returned in the form of a capital credit check when the board of directors determines that the money can be paid without jeopardizing United's fiscal responsibilities or service dependability.
Being a member/owner not only means that you may receive capital credit refunds, you also have the responsibility to be involved in your cooperative by voting in all director elections and by sharing your concerns with our directors, management and employees.
